Official Participation of India as Guest of Honor at the 2026 Bogotá International Book Fair

BOGOTÁ, April 16, 2026 – The 38th edition of the Bogotá International Book Fair (FILBo) welcomes India for the first time as its Guest of Honor. This cultural and editorial showcase, organized by the Embassy of India and The National Book Trust, India, features a robust delegation including 35 authors, 3,000 titles, over 100 events, seven exhibitions, 75 speakers, and more than 30 film and documentary screenings.

Located in Pavilion 4 of Corferias, the space has been carefully designed under the motto "Come, Read, and Explore India." It recreates the country’s vast cultural diversity through experiences designed to captivate every visitor, from literature and art to gastronomy.

According to the Ambassador of India to Colombia, Shri Vanlalhuma:"Our participation will feature a delegation of distinguished authors, thinkers, and professionals who will engage with Colombian audiences through dialogue and reflection. Literature, at its core, is about building bridges to bring people together."

Vinnet Kumar, First Secretary and Cultural Attaché of the diplomatic mission, added that the Pavilion "will be a reflection of our rich tradition. It is said that a person is not the same after finishing a book; we want that same effect for every visitor who walks through this space."

Andrés López, President of Corferias, highlighted the scale of the event: "There is not a single event in the region—in all of Latin America—capable of congregating 2,000 events in 14 days. What do we expect from this edition? To continue promoting a culture of reading. The Indian nation is a prime example of our theme 'To Listen is to Read'; we are immensely curious about what they will share with us."

India's programming will span literature, thought, oral tradition, and contemporary artistic expressions, reflecting the country's linguistic and creative diversity. Attendees will encounter a literary tradition that constantly oscillates between ancestral roots and a vibrant contemporary reality.

Adriana Ángel Forero, Director of FILBo for the Colombian Book Chamber (CCL), noted that "Bogotá becomes an international business epicenter in the first half of the year, as agents from various countries participate in our Professional Sessions." Meanwhile, Tatiana Rudd, FILBo Project Manager for Corferias, emphasized that the fair "reinvents itself year after year, featuring more publishers and key figures from the book industry."

India’s presence at FILBo 2026 reaffirms the Fair’s commitment to cultural diversity and international exchange, consolidating it as one of the most important stages for the global publishing world in Latin America.
